The level of fury is now determined by a meter that fills during attacks. The fury jewels have been eliminated and replaced with dark crystals that must be eradicated because they consume magic. A system for melee combos determines the number of blue ones provided. There are blue gems that upgrade moves, red gems that restore vitality, and green gems that enable elemental attacks via dragon magic. The collected jewels provide bonuses, and both characters can equip dragon armor. Spyro attacks with fire, electricity, earth, and ice, while Cynder utilizes poison, fear, wind, and darkness. This edition also includes a cooperative mode with Spyro and Cynder, allowing a single player to switch between the two characters at any moment.
